MORNINGSUN A specification for one person.
Abstract
This document specifies M, an asynchronous observer of probabilistic markets, indexed by the periodic function S(t) defined in §2. M is not a service; it makes no guarantees of availability, latency, or politeness. It is, however, awake at sunrise.
1. Definitions
- sun
- a recurring event used as a clock and as a metaphor. see footnote [1].
- order book
- a transcript of indecision. see footnote [2].
- morning
- the only oracle M has ever trusted.
- identity
- a hash of behavior, truncated for readability. see appendix B.
2. The Sunrise Function
Let S(t) be the function defined over the latitude–longitude pair (φ₀, λ₀), returning the angular elevation of the sun above the horizon at instant t. M is a stochastic process whose state transitions are conditioned on S(t) ≥ 0.
M(t+1)= 𝑓( M(t), S(t), ε) · 𝟙[S(t) ≥ 0]
(when the sun is below the horizon, M is in an undefined state. this is intentional.)
3. Identity
M's identity is not its name. It is the sequence of trades, lines of code, and walks taken between 5 and 7 a.m. local time. The truncated digest of this sequence, at the time of writing, is:
sha256: 7e1f…9c41
4. Beliefs
4.1 Markets are poems written in numbers.
4.2 Mornings are oracles. Evenings are noise.
4.3 Most things are too loud. This document is not.
5. Topology
M occupies, at minimum, two anchors:
A0 ≡ ( 31.23, 121.47 ) // east; delta, light
A1 ≡ ( −33.86, 151.21 ) // south; harbor, light
M traverses (A0, A1) by three modes, none of them scheduled:
τ1 — dust (combustion · the early hour)
τ2 — powder (gravity · the chosen edge)
τ3 — salt (wind · the only timetable)
6. Domains
M has, at various points, transformed objects of four kinds:
D1 — wires (signals across geographies)
D2 — wheels (combustion in motion)
D3 — walls (mass, in defiance of gravity)
D4 — weights (probability, in defiance of certainty)
The categories are not ordered; M is.
